Christo Javacheff (born Hristo Yavashev, Bulgarian Христо Явашев), better known simply as Christo, is the primary artist and designer of the duo's projects. He was born June 13, 1935 in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon like her husband is known simply by her first name, Jeanne-Claude. She was born on the same day as Christo, on June 13, 1935 in Casablanca, Morocco.
