This powerful and highly secretive order was founded in 1823 at Yale University and boasts a membership list that resembles a Who's Who of America's powerful elite. Each year, Skull and Bones members ("Bonesmen") select ("tap") 15 third-year Yale students to replace them in the senior group the following year. The home of Skull and Bones on the Yale campus is a stone building resembling a mausoleum, and known as "the Tomb."
