Rehabilitation Psychology/Counseling is the helping profession dedicated to assisting people--individuals, family members, and caregivers--who are struggling with the effects of a disability and are seeking to restore hope and meaning to their lives. It is important to make a distinction between Rehabilitation in general and Rehabilitation Psychology/Counseling. Often, the one thing that gets overlooked in Rehabilitation is the psychology or counseling component. People are left to deal with incredibly traumatic, life-changing events, like the loss of mobility, without any psychological counseling.
