West Dunbartonshire, named after the county town, Dumbarton, (note the difference in spelling of the town and the county) is a small county in Scotland with a large tourist infrastructure. This is based mainly on its scenic qualities. It is sometimes known as "The Gateway to the Highlands". The southern shore of Loch Lomond, the UK's largest loch (lake) is in West Dunbartonshire, at Balloch, one of the main tourist centres. Other major towns include Helensburgh, Alexandria and Clydebank.
