The first choir was formed in the early 1900s. Its conductor was J.H.Bowden and the accompanist was Lewis Pascoe, whose version of While Shepherds Watched ... we still sing at Christmas. The choir appears to have disbanded during World War I but was reformed in May 1919 with the same officers.
