Ahmedabad city is located in the state of Gujarat, in the western part of India. It lies along the Sabarmati River. Ahmedabad is 440 km north of Mumbai Situated on the banks of the Sabarmati River; Ahmedabad was founded by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1411 A.D. It was also called 'Manchester of the East' because of its thriving textile industry.
