This category contains information for patients, their families and caregivers, about Hypernatremia. This is a condition in which sodium levels in the blood are too high.

Hypernatremia occurs when water levels in the system are too low (dehydration), if kidneys aren't functioning normally, or from certain pituitary gland disorders. Elevated sodium levels in the blood can lead to confusion, muscle twitching, seizures, and coma.
