A young nun (played by Audrey Hepburn) felled by tuberculosis while nursing in the Belgian Congo realizes she can never give complete obedience to her order, repudiates her vows, and joins a World War II underground movement to help fight the Nazi invaders of her homeland. This was said to be Hepburn's favorite role.
